The New Work from Home

As we emerge for Lockdown in the UK the question for alot of people is where will they be going back to work, with over 16 months of working from home for many people the question has to be asked as to how many of us are keen to get back to the office or are we happier and even more productive working from home?

So as I run a local Devon business networking group I asked the question on our Twitter page, I kept it fairly simple as you can see with three options; #Workingfromhome is trending but what would you prefer?

Its clear nearly 60% favour working from home and that really should come as no surprise after 16 months of getting up and ‘maybe’ being smart on your top half for video calls with a commute registering seconds its bound to be a winner for many. The key takeaway for me was that over 93% of respondants are clearly against the straight back to the office idea, the suggestion that we’ll all just jump back into the daily routine with the commute is winning no favours at all. So it would seem a mixture of the two may well be the best option for many businesses if of course you’re able to manage the workplace accordingly. The idea of a hybrid solution maybe a few days in the office and a few at home would seem to offer the best of both worlds for people; the question for many businesses though is can you make a hybrid solution work for your business?

So how will your business respond, have asked your staff what they want to do, could you even manage a hybrid solution? Whatever you choose its clear that you need a plan in place for your staff returning to the workplace, its needs to be clear and defined.
